The learning process varies
greatly between Preschool and Pre-K, though the categories and general focus are
the same and are outlined below.
Circle Time
- Have a "special helper" or leader for the day to direct the circle time
- Introduce everyone- go around the circle saying everyone's names and counting the number of kids
- Discuss the weather and calendar (use weather board/calendar board)
- Have teachers describe the activities for the day
- Morning or Afternoon Greeting song
Small Group Activities
- Centered around the domains of problem solving, art/music, language and motor skills
- Teacher will have daily activities in each of these areas
Art/Music (Aesthetics)
- Self-expression through visual and performing arts
- Aesthetic appreciation
Problem Solving (Cognitive Skills & Fine Motor Skills)
- Critical and Creative Thinking
- Mathematical Understanding
Language
- Effective communication through listening, speaking, writing and reading
Physical Motor Skills (Gross Motor)
- Developing the use of large and small muscles
- Physical Fitness
- Care and respect for the body
